Evaluation of English 1A

Before taking English 1A, I was indeed, knowledgeable about the subject itself. Throughout high school I did more of Shakespeare literature. As we all know, his work is more challenging due to the fact that one must interpret his language into a language that one understands. Therefore, English 1A was some of a challenge but not as much as the English course I took back in high school. Although, I did learn new things in this class that I will definitely use for the rest of my life. English is made up of a few components that create an idea as a whole such as reading, writing, listening, and communication. I think that what I most enjoyed about this class was the presentations because I got immediate feedback from my classmates. I take criticism as a good thing because I believe it lets me know where I need to improve on in order to become better. I am not much of a shy person so therefore public speaking was not hard for me at all. I believe this is my strength and having to do those presentations on the books we were reading was a great opportunity for me to do what I believe I am good at. In contrast to my strength in this class, I believe that my weakness was using sophisticated vocabulary in my essays and as well in my presentations. Though I did learn many in this class and I will definitely implement them in my future essays/presentations. Overall, this course developed my communication skills. It also developed my listening skills when my other classmates presented or gave their opinion on something that was being discussed in class. In addition, it developed my writing skills due to the fact that my professor gave feedback on my essays and I was given a clear understanding of my mistakes and where I needed to improve on.
